The Darse Vieille (old port) was created under Henri IV, and Vauban had the Darse Neuve (new port) dug between 1680 and 1700. Meanwhile, the arsenal had been decided by Richelieu. Today, the Darse Vieille is dedicated to passenger transport (Corsica, Sardinia, the Hyères). The commercial port stands at Bréagaillon cove, near La Seyne.
