Vence Travel guide
Vence
: Michelin's recommendations
At the foot of the Baous mountains, Vence is surrounded by beautiful countryside dissected by ravines and rivers with crystal-clear water. The old town is a medieval gem, with a fine château on Place du Frêne in the shade of an old tree (according to tradition it was planted by François I and Pope Paul III in 1538), and town walls studded with five gates. Its network of narrow alleyways is lined by market stalls, art galleries, restaurants and shops selling handicrafts and Provençal delicacies.
