The wine cellars of Monaco’s Hotel de Paris hold a veritable treasure trove: over 550,000 bottles of the most prestigious wines. This is a sanctuary reserved for the elite and if you wish to visit it, it will cost a modest sum of € 4,000. However MICHELIN gives you a unique glance behind its doors.

Facts and figures about the cellars:
 
• 1500 m2 of underground passages at a depth of 13 metres dug by hand between 1874 and 1884.
• Nearly 600,000 bottles and over 6000 references.
• The oldest bottle is an 1835 Château Bel Marquis Aligre.
• One of the oldest à la carte bottles is a 1929 Château Margaux.
• Amongst the treasures is a 1890 Chateau d'Yquem and cognacs dating from the time of Napoleon 1st.
• 8 people work full time in the cellars.
