Sainte-Baume Massif
Sainte-Baume Massif
: Michelin's recommendations
This massif is the longest and highest of the Provencal range, reaching 1,147m at the Signal de la Sainte-Baume. The bare and arid south face rises gently from the Cuges lake basin to the 12km-long ridge line, offering a splendid panorama from Saint-Pilon (alt. 994 m), one of its highest peaks. A 300m-high vertical cliff gives an unusual look to the north face, where the cave lies; below that, the state forest stretches out near the Plan-d’Aups Plateau reminiscent of the Causses.
