Located on an isolated rocky hillock, the imposing château, which belonged to the Adhémar de Monteil family, overlooks the old town of Tricastin and owes its fame to Madame de Sévigné. Her daughter lived here, and the famous lady of letters was a frequent visitor and finally died here in 1696. She is buried in the château's chapel.
