This valley is tucked away at the top end of the upper Verdon Valley. The charming village of Allos (1 400m) is an ideal base from which to explore the Mercantour national park. Take the Allos Pass road, which winds dizzily above the Bachelard gorge, up to the pass at 2 247m. Head on to Lake Allos, the largest high altitude lake in Europe.
