The purpose of this museum is to present a diversified approach of the marine biotope, related human activities and the privileged bond which has existed for centuries between Biarritz and the ocean. A series of aquariums present the particularly rich fauna of the Bay of Gascogne. The cetacean gallery, with a presentation on whale fishing, exhibits mouldings and skeletons of animals which have run aground or have been caught off the Basque coast (eg. rorquals, killer whales and dolphins)
