Gourette Travel guide
Gourette : Michelin's recommendations
Gourette is a popular winter-sports resort which owes its existence to Henri Sallenave, a native of Pau, who pioneered downhill skiing in the Pyrenees in 1903. Although international skiing championships were held here yearly from 1908, the resort did not open until 1930. The site itself is impressive, with apartment blocks nestling in a cirque of limestone scarred by the rugged strata of the Pic du Ger.
