Hendaye : Michelin's recommendations

Swim a few strokes in the Bidassoa river and you reach Spain! Hendaye is a frontier town between the mountains and the sea, and over the centuries has seen many a royal pass by. At present however, inhabitants of the native town of Bixente Lizarazu, one of the stars of the French national football team, are happy to sun-bathe, to swim and to surf. At high tide the river estuary, with the town of Fontarabie standing on the far bank, becomes a calm lake where various water sports can be enjoyed.
