This composite building is worthy of note for its rich decorations. A Gothic surrounding wall topped by a machicolated wall-walk, and reinforced by a belfry-tower, defends the courtyard. The main façade of the building was built in the Italian style under Henri IV. There is a small room by Jean Guiton and depictions of the 1627 siege by Van der Kabel and Jacques Callot. On the rear façade there is a gate through which aldermen left at the end of their term, after which they were known as gentlemen.
