The discovery of the galleries of this underground river dates from the mid-19C, when a well was sunk in the centre of the village. A tour of the galleries is alwayd thrilling. Fully attired in potholer gear, visitors descend 13m below ground and walk an easy 250m in 5-15cm of water. During the tour, note the various concretions adorning the cave, including an impressive 3.50m high column and an amazing “whale-tooth” drapery effect.
