Leave the car at the point where the D25 from Royan ceases to follow the coastline and head into the woods to access a stony platform. The Gironde, Grave Point, Cordouan Lighthouse, Coubre Point and its lighthouse make for an impressive panorama. To the right the view takes in the beaches and wild dunes of the Grande Côte as the powerful waves roll in. In the centre of the beach, note the old blockhouse, part of the German Atlantic defences, now covered by the sea at high tide.
