This is an important fishing port for sardines, tuna and anchovies (whales are sadly a thing of the past here), located at the end of the harbour that indents the Landes coast between Arcachon and Bidassoa. There are some sturdy sea-walls and breakwaters to protect the harbour, which is a delight for the eyes with its brightly coloured boats, fishermen mending their nets and the scent of salty sea air.
