At the end of the 19C, the increasing popularity of sea bathing saw the construction in Soulac of hundreds of little houses which give a quirky charm to this place, sandwiched between sea and forest. Rue de la Plage (running between the Church of Notre Dame de la Fin des Terres and the seafront) is the main street, along which lie the resort’s 19C villas. There is a fine view of the Cordouan Lighthouse from the Boulevard du Front de Mer, and a little tourist train runs to Pointe de la Grave.
