The Musee Laperouse honours Jean-François de Galaup de Lapérouse (1741-1788), who set out on a scientific expedition on the frigates La Boussole and the Astrolabe in 1785, and died in a shipwreck. The navigational instruments, maps and ship models bring to life the way navigating was done in the 18C, as well as the investigations conducted in 1986 following in the path of the Astrolabe.
