Blaye-les-Mines is situated in the /icarmausin/i coal basin - an open mine which was worked from 1987 to 1997. The giant crater, 180m deep, with a diameter of 180m is painfully beautiful -considering it represents an activity that the modern world has sought to abandon, no matter what the human cost.
