Between the Aude and the Narbonnaise gates is the Inquisition Tower with it prison and its chains (a single viewing will suffice to make you confess to anything): further on, the square Bishop's Tower straddles the lices (the space running between the city’s lines of fortifications), blocking all north-south communication. Carry on to the round Tower of Justice. Notice the difference between the original roofs to the south and these angular ones by Viollet-le-Duc.
