La Couvertoirade
: Michelin's recommendations
On the Larzac plateau lies this vestige of Templar and Hospitaller history; La Couvertoirade, a satellite of the Commandery of St Eulalie. The virtually intact perimeter walls were erected in 1439 by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem. Its 14C fortified church has fine views of the village. Note the remarkable door frames on its fine houses, which add to the charm as you stroll round this tiny fortified town.
