At an altitude of 2,115m, this Pyrenean pass boasts a remarkable panorama, in particular of the Barèges summits. In the distance, beyond the Ardiden range, rises the great mass of Balaïtous and its glacier. A plaque has been erected in homage to "Monsieur Paul", who promoted Pyrenean tourism and built the Pic du Midi Road. The old route up to the summit starts from this pass (2hr 30min walk, 700m climb).
