Bernadette was taught by nuns in this old hospice at the time of the apparitions. She was then admitted as a boarder and lived here from 1860 to 1866. Photographs and some of her personal items are on display in the visiting room. In the chapel where she received her first communion are her communion gown, catechism and prayer bench.
