The lovely village of Madiran, located in the heart of the vineyards that bear its name, was built around a Benedictine monastery. It is particularly lively here on 14 & 15 August for the Wine Festival, where you can taste fine local vintages. The church, erected in the 11C and 12C, has preserved its Romanesque choir built above a crypt. Note the fine capitals.
