This town in the Gers has developed an international reputation thanks to its Jazz Festival, which draws in major musicians and attracts large crowds to the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, listed among the largest fortified squares (75m by 130m). Marciac is proud of its colourful market full of fine produce, set up on the central square, and also boasts the highest steeple in the Gers and little medieval streets in ochre tones. It is a pleasant place to stay, particularly given the boating club and hiking trails that complete the picture.
