The interior of this cathedral has been rebuilt several times (notably after the attack by the Protestants on Christmas Eve 1579). Its three naves are flanked by 15 side chapels. Note the different kinds of wood panelling, the Aubusson tapestries and the Black Virgin brought back from the East by the crusaders. Under the nave is the tomb and crypt of St Privat. There are two bell-towers, one is finely sculpted in Italian Renaissance style and forms a sharp contrast to the sobriety of the second.
