Ingres Museum Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

The museum is housed in the former bishops’ palace (1664). The 1st floor is devoted to Ingres, born in Montauban in 1780, while the 2nd floor has an excellent collection of primitives and paintings from the 14C to the 18C. The ground floor displays works by Bourdelle, who was also born in Montauban, in 1861. One room is devoted to another local painter, François Desnoyer (1884-1972). Opposite the museum stands an admirable bronze by Bourdelle, the Dying Centaur.
