Narbonne
: Michelin's recommendations
Narbonne, capital of Narbonne Gaul and a former archepiscopal town, residence of the Wisigoths kings of Septimania. Today, it remains a much-loved Languedoc town. Although the birthplace of Charles Trénet has never rediscovered its glorious past, it has preserved its architecture from civilian, military and religious life, as well as two remarkable collections of Roman paintings. Best of all, it's a town where you can step out of the rat race for a time, and wander along the Robine canal.
