The portraits of Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659-1743) were so successful that to meet demand, the Perpignan painter had to move to industrial means... so well that there is hardly a museum in France that does not have his Rigaud. Next to his Portrait du cardinal de Bouillon, you will see Gothic Catalan paintings including the famous retable of the Trinity. Modern art is represented by Maillol, Dufy, Picasso, Alechinsky and Appel, among others. There is a section devoted to Hispanic arts.
