The underground network of Lombrives is one of the most extensive in Europe and is comprised of seven distinct levels. The cave has provided shelter for mankind for several thousand years, attested by the inscriptions and drawings on the walls. The classic tour covers some 1.8km of galleries on two levels, taking the visitor past spectacular formations such as the "white mammoth" or the "tomb of Pyrène". The long tour (3 or 5hr) features a series of galleries whose walls are covered in red, blue or black marble, an underground lake and many remarkable formations.
