The hussars, light Hungarian riders, made their appearance in European armies at the beginning of the 17C. The first hussar regiment in France, was raised in 1720 (its headquaters have been in Tarbes since 1963). The museum retraces the glorious history of this corps. Since its creation until the Gulf War, prestigious soldiers such as Ney, Kellerman, Blücher or Lyautey have been among its ranks.
