The flora and fauna in this nature preserve at the entrance to the Gaves Valley are really interesting: Corsican mountain sheep and izards sharing their habitat with nesting birds of prey on the high limestone cliffs covered with moors and meadows. The Pic de Pibeste offers one of the finest views in the central Pyrenees. There is a magnificent panorama to the south from the television tower over the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the Pic de Viscos and in the background the summits over 3,000m (Mont Perdu, Vignemale, Balaïtous). Lourdes is in the foreground to the north.
