Sylvanès Abbey Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

The sandstone church dates from 1157. Before going inside, admire the remarkable late-12C wrought-iron railing of the flat east end. The interior has the simplicity and characteristic features of the southern Cistercian style. An impressive modern organ (4 600 pipes) was added in 1997. The edifice extends to the south through the adjoining monastic buildings: cloister, chapter house, former sacristy and monks' great hall or scriptorium (divided into two naves surmounted by ribbed vaulting).
