Lumio
: Michelin's recommendations
This opulent market town is laid out in a round above the large Baroque church, which is flanked by a tall bell tower decorated with openwork. Located in the Balagne region (famed in France for being the birthplace of Laetitia Casta), it is set among olive trees and fruit orchards and offers panoramic views over the Calvi Gulf. On avenue Bella Vista you can't miss the imposing square construction whose summit is decorated with arcades: the Carrubo, built in the 18C by an abbot to house a school and take in the poor of the village. Go on until you reach the Occi ruins, an old abandoned village that overlooks Lumio and the Sant'Ambroggio marina.
