The charming Romanesque church of Notre-Dame-on-the-Water (late 11C) was severely damaged last century. Five of the seven bays of the nave and side aisles had to be demolished. Fortunately, some fine features have survived. The chancel is decorated with lovely arcading and a granite altar resting on three pillars. 12C frescoes were uncovered in the South transept. They depict the Doctors of the Church (authors of the dogmas of Christianity). Note also the recumbent figure lying under a Gothic canopy, with a lion at its feet.
