Public garden of the keep
Public garden of the keep
: Michelin's recommendations
The public garden of the keep is laid out on the site of a fortress dating from 1092. Two wall sections of the keep and two round towers dating from this period are still standing. Inside the enclosure are the ruins of St-Symphorien Chapel (11C) where Eleanor of Aquitaine's daughter was christened. Walking round the ruins, you will reach a terrace offering a panoramic view of the Passais "bocage" (hedged farmland). To the South-East one can see the familiar conical outline of Mount Margantin. St-Ann's mound stands in the foreground.
