From the 17C to the late 19C the cloth factories were the pride of Elbeuf. Little remains of the old city, made up of the place St Jean and the Puchot quarter. However, the truncated chimney (19C) of the Clarenson factory can still be seen on the place de la République. This half-timbered building is currently being restored. The Louvet (18C) and Houiller factories are located in the rue de la République; the Grandin and Godet factories are in rue Guynemer. Don't miss the Jardins de la Source (gardens).
