The Normandy Bridge, 2 141m long, designed by Mr Vijoleux, was seen as a milestone at the time of its construction in 1995 because it set the record for the longest cable-stayed bridge. This steel and concrete mass, which defies the laws of gravity, has a surprisingly light structure and is extremely stable, capable of withstanding winds of up to 440kph. A sophisticated lighting system, designed by Yann Kersalé, called Rhapsody in Blue and White, turns the construction into an amazing sight every night.
