This museum pays homage to the American paratroopers who distinguished themselves during the Normandy landings of 6 June 1944. Laid out over two different areas, the museum has a design which is reminiscent of a parachute canopy. Exhibits include a Waco glider and a Douglas C47 aeroplane. With its large collection of equipment (weapons, uniforms, vehicles etc), the museum relates the extraordinary efforts made by these men, who contributed directly to the liberation of France. An extension that is soon to be completed will house more of the collection and incorporate a new section, which promises to be innovative and sensory.
