Sainte-Opportune-du-Bosc : Michelin's recommendations

The Château du Champ de Bataille (of the battle-ground) is situated amid woods 4 km west of Neubourg. Some say that it was built on the site of a battle, others that a brave peasant owned a field on this spot, but the origins of the name are not important; it is the splendour of the 17th Century building that captures the attention. Formerly owned by the Harcourt family, it has been fully and very well restored, and the gardens by Le Nôtre have been recreated.
