Boucher de Perthes museum Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

Jacques Boucher de Perthes (1788-1868) was a talented dabbler, a Customs Inspector and amateur archeologist and also naive: the local peasants used to sharpen prehistoric flints and sell them to him for ten cents. He established the existence of Paleolithic man, a contemporary of the great mammoths. Part of the collection of the museum that bears his name is devoted to his discoveries. There are also medieval sculptures, a sculpture by Camille Claudel and a fine silver Virgin and Child.
