Bergues
: Michelin's recommendations
Known as the “little Bruges of the north” thanks to its canal, Bergues is a typically Flemish town, with its winding streets, huge squares and silent quays. Once a rival of Dunkirk, the town was badly damaged in 1940. However, it has been superbly rebuilt with yellow-ochre brick buildings, chapels and red tiles, which give it a simple, harmonious appearance. Since the success of the film Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis, Bergues has seen its number of visitors rise dramatically.
