An imposing square Gothic tower (1387-1410) 64m high, whose sombre and fierce silhouette is adorned with a collection of small towers, skylights, weather vanes and pinnacles. The chimes (62 bells) sets a rhythm for daily life by playing, on the hours the tune of the Scottish Puritans, on the half-hours a barcarolle, and on the quarter-pasts and quarter-tos a few bars from the tune of Gayant. From the top is a view over Douai and its industrial suburb.
