La Roche-Guyon : Michelin's recommendations

Located between the River Seine and the Vexin plateau, the town lies in the shadow of its castle, or indeed castles: a medieval one with its keep built on a rocky outcrop, and a later (18C) structure. Note also a cave chapel and casemates in the cliff dating from the Second World War. Stroll along the banks of the Seine in the town to enjoy a view of the bend in the river, which may equally be admired from the ridge route with the truncated keep in the foreground.
