Laon : Michelin's recommendations
Perched on its rock, Laon occupies a splendid position from which it surveys the plain from a height of over 100 metres. A mini-metro, the Poma, links the lower town to the upper city which is made up of two districts; the city where the town was born and its market suburb. A famous cathedral, interesting monuments, many old houses which stretch out along narrow streets, medieval ramparts facing a vast horizon, all make the former capital of the Carolingian empire an absolute must to visit.
