Daubigny settled in Auvers in 1854 and in 1860 he had this house-workshop built. Many important French artists such as Corot and Daumier stayed at this place. The walls of this house are a testimony of the paintings of that period; each artist contributed to the decoration of this house. Some year later, in 1890, Van Gogh chose the Daubigny's garden as a subject of one of his paintings.
