The Musée de la Batellerie exhibits 53 types of riverboat used in the days before the canal boat became prevalent in France, and retraces the history of the means of propulsion and towing used at the time. The tour is dotted with vivid maps, engravings, models and various other pieces that put into perspective the navigation problems encountered when crossing Paris. There is an interesting retrospective section of "mechanical" navigation on the Seine.
