Le Bourget airfield was created in 1914 for military purposes and was Paris' main commercial airport until the Second World War. Since the Charles-de-Gaulle airport at Roissy became operational in 1973, Le Bourget has been used mainly for private aircraft and business flights. The Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace is also located there.
