Inspired by the Roman arch of Septimus Severus, it was built in 1806-1808, according to plans by Percier and Fontaine, to celebrate the Napoleonic victories of 1805. In the axis of the arch, you will find a superb view, with the Grand Arch of La Défense in your sights.
