Over the past few years the Bassin has become a pleasant place for leisure pursuits and relaxation, thanks in particular to the arrival of two cinemas (MK2) on quai de la Loire and quai de la Seine. The two banks are linked by a footbridge so cinema-goers can wander from one bank to the other. In front of the former bonded warehouses, since transformed into accommodation and artists' studios, the transporter bridge on rue de Crimée, between Bassin de La Villette and Canal de l'Ourcq, lifts to let past the boats, as delighted children look on.
