This theatre company, led by the actor François-Joseph Talma, emerged when Louis XIV ordered Molière's company to join forces with that of the Hôtel de Bourgogne. In 1792, it established its home in the Théâtre-Français (modern-day Comédie-Française), built by Victor Luis. Inside, note the famous Voltaire by Houdon and the armchair in which Molière died suddenly on 17 February 1863. It is well worth attending a performance here, in what is one of the most beautiful theatres in Paris.
