Created by the pork butchers Véro and Dodat in 1822, this arcade was the first Parisian street to have gas lighting installed along it. Admire the fine neo-Classical decoration (painted ceilings, black and white chequered tiling) and its high-quality boutiques, some of which are endowed with an old-fashioned charm. Nowadays, the gallery has something of a sad air as it is often deserted, making it hard to imagine the heady days of the 19C, when it would have been full of travellers.
