This dance hall was all the rage at the end of the 19C and provided the inspiration for one of Renoir's famous paintings, now on display in the Musée d'Orsay. Standing on top of a hill, the windmill is the former Blute-Fin defended against the Cossacks by its miller, Debray, in 1814: his body was crucified on its blades.
